I agree that text files are a terrible data-transfer convention and we can, must, do much better.
It's just that... most binary file formats I've seen have the life expectancy of mayflies. They're just.... data mulchers with a black hole attached.
If your data goes into a binary file, chances are very good that you're never getting it out again once that app / db / library that created it goes out of fashion.

I love that there are so many of us thinking deeply, if weirdly, about how to 'reboot computing'.
We all have different ideas and sometimes those ideas conflict on the details, but there's a substantial amount of agreement about roughly what's wrong with the Unix model of computing we've inherited, *very roughly* what we'd like, and .... a pleasing amount of vagueness about the details because we haven't yet built it.

when im on the internet and i see something where the date says, idk, 2011 or 2012 im like "ah yeah, thats a thing i guess". when the date is about 2015 im like "oh that thing must be brand new then" and when the date says 2019 i think it might be a mistake
