@samis @calvin I'm quite sure it's YaST, considering I installed it.

Not my first choice of distro, but it was easier to get my hands on than RHEL 6 (and no, CentOS 6 won't work for this, it needs to be ppc64be, and most other distros with ppc64be support won't work on POWER6 hardware).

@calvin @samis And I think the point was really more, git wasn't found in the repos.

Turns out that it's in a separate SDK repo that you have to configure separately.

@samis @calvin That being a slight problem if you're trying to access github, which needs TLS 1.2, which OpenSSL 0.9.8j cannot handle... because they built git against 0.9.8j, not 1.x.
