I have a funny story regarding these drives, a recall, and an order of 2000 machines with these in them.

(Actually I forget whether that drive is working and is omega.bhtooefr.org's (my Alpha box) boot device, or if I put it in there, found it didn't work, and then put another drive in...)

@calvin Ha, jumping pins for master/slave was thing I almost forget existed, but I bet I still have a baggie of the jumpers in my “tech drawer” next to the modem cables. How many megabytes was that thing, anyway?

Reminds me of the Quantum Fireballs. To put it delicately it was quite a funny product for Quantum considering their HDDs had a reputation at that time of erm, being intolerant of heat tolerances 💣
